Lower quality makes smaller files; 80 to 90 % looks the same as the original for most photos.

The HEIC decoder (libheif, about 1.5 MB) is loaded the first time a photo is opened, from this site. Photos are turned upright as the camera took them; the camera's data (date, place, device) isn't kept in the new files. A HEIC file with several images (a burst) gives its main one. For WebP, AVIF or BMP, use the Image Format Converter, which opens HEIC photos too.

How to convert HEIC to JPG

  1. Drop your iPhone photos (HEIC or HEIF) on the page or choose them, as many as you like.
  2. Pick JPG or PNG; for JPG, set the quality and the background color for any see-through parts.
  3. Download each photo, or all of them in a ZIP archive.

Questions

What is a HEIC file?

It's the format iPhones save photos in. It makes small files, but Windows, many websites and older apps can't open it, so JPG is the safe choice for sharing.

Does it work on Windows and in Chrome?

Yes, in any browser: where the browser can't open HEIC itself, a decoder (libheif, about 1.5 MB) is loaded from this site the first time you add a photo.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. They're converted by your browser, on your device; your photos stay private.

Is the quality kept?

At 90 % (the default) a JPG looks the same as the original; choose PNG to lose nothing, in larger files.

What about location and camera data?

Photos are turned upright as the camera took them, and their data (date, place, device) isn't kept in the new files. A burst gives its main photo.
