H.264 video with AAC sound: plays on every phone, computer, TV and site. At its own size, a track the format keeps is copied as it is: quick, and nothing is lost.
H.264 and HEVC videos (most iPhone and Mac recordings) are copied into the MP4 as they are, quickly and with nothing lost; others are written again by your browser's own codecs, in about the time the video plays. The converted video is held in memory until it's downloaded, so very large ones may not fit. For other videos, use the Video Converter.

Questions
Why convert MOV to MP4?
MOV is what iPhones and Macs record in. MP4 plays on more phones, TVs, Windows computers and websites, and many upload forms ask for it.
Does converting lower the quality?
Usually not at all: iPhone and Mac videos are H.264 or HEVC with AAC sound, which are copied into the MP4 as they are, quickly. Other videos, or a lower resolution, are written again.
Will an HEVC video play everywhere?
HEVC is copied as it is, so it plays where HEVC does (most recent phones and computers). For the widest support, pick a lower resolution and it's written again as H.264.
Is there a size limit?
Videos are read as they're needed, but the converted one is held in memory until it's downloaded, so very large ones may not fit on a phone.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. They're converted by your browser, on your device.
