Resolution

Medium: a good balance, slightly softer detail; much smaller.

Written again as MP4 (H.264 video, AAC sound) by your browser's own encoders, which takes about as long as the video plays or less. AVI, FLV and WMV aren't read.

How to compress a video

  1. Drop your videos on the page or choose them: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV or M4V.
  2. Compress by strength (light, medium or strong) or to fit a size: 10, 25, 50 or 100 MB.
  3. Lower the resolution to 1080p, 720p or 480p for even smaller files.
  4. Download each video, or all of them in a ZIP archive.

Questions

How do I make a video small enough to send?

Choose to fit a size, e.g. 25 MB for email: the quality is set so the video fits. For a long video, a lower resolution keeps it looking better at that size.

How much quality is lost?

Light looks the same as the original to most eyes, often at half the size or less; medium is a good balance, slightly softer and much smaller; strong is as small as it gets while staying watchable, visibly softer.

How long does it take?

About as long as the video plays, or less: it's written again by your browser's own encoders, the graphics card's where there are.

Which format is the compressed video?

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound, which plays everywhere. AVI, FLV and WMV can't be read.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. They're compressed by your browser, on your device.
