Questions
What is Base64 used for?
It writes any data, such as an image or a file, as plain text, so it can go in JSON, emails, data URLs and other places that only take text.
What is URL safe Base64?
It uses - and _ instead of + and /, without = padding, so it can go in a web address or a file name, as in JWTs.
Can I decode Base64 into a file?
Yes. Text that isn't readable is decoded as binary data, its type guessed from its first bytes; an image is shown, and any file can be downloaded.
Is it encryption?
No, Base64 hides nothing: anyone can decode it. Use it to carry data, not to protect it.
Is my data uploaded?
No, it's encoded and decoded by your browser.
